Kindness – Room 16

Kindness is the character trait we are focussing on during the month of February at Regal Road P.S.  Kindness is one of the most important human characteristics.  Kindness is a human quality to practise with friends, family and people you meet.  Kindness is shown in little ways each day.  It is not that hard to say a simple 'thank you', and yet it can really change the atmosphere of someone else's day.  The students in room 16, grades 1 and 2, are working very hard to prepare the play entitled Kindness.  It is set in a Toronto family home with a grandfather and his two grandchildren as well as in ancient China at the time of the Wang Tsao family. The students will do their best to act out this play to demonstrate the human quality of kindness.

Parking and Traffic Congestion

Although snow has made parking and traffic congestion worse around the school, please be reminded that no one should park on the pedestrian crosswalk or in the bus-loading bay in front of the school, or double-park in the school parking lot.

Parents are asked to park a little further from the school at the pick-up and drop-off times to avoid congestion and blocking of all traffic at the intersection in front of the school.

Pizza Days

Please use the calendars issued by the school to keep track of pizza days and other events.  The current order form is for February 25, March 25, April 29 and June 24.  There is no pizza lunch in May.

Visitors to the School

Our first priority for all students is their safety.  Board and Provincial guidelines clearly outline the process that all visitors must follow upon their arrival on school property, which begins with reporting to the Main Office.   You will be issued a Visitor Badge, which must be worn visibly during your stay at Regal Road.  Please do not forget to sign in and sign out when visiting the school.

Attendance and Punctuality

All students are expected to attend school regularly and punctually.  In the event that your child will be late or absent, please call the school and follow the prompts to leave a message.  This can be done 24 hours a day.  For students who are absent and for whom a call is not received, we will attempt to contact you.

All students who arrive after 8:40 a.m. or 12:30 p.m.
must obtain a Late Slip from the office.

Lunch Policy

Please be reminded that the lunch hour is from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.   Where children stay for lunch, they will eat with their classmates and remain on school property.  If ever there is a need to do so, a written request signed and dated, from the parent is required for each occurrence.
If you are bringing a lunch for your child to pick up from the office, please ensure that it is labelled with your child’s name, room number or teacher.  Please instruct your child to come to the office at 11:30 a.m. for pickup.  In order to avoid classroom disruptions, students will not be called from class before 11:30 a.m.  Your cooperation is appreciated!

Use of School Telephone

All students are reminded to have sports equipment and after-school arrangements made prior to coming to school each day.  The school phone is to be used for emergency purposes only.
