Please drop in at any of the times above for our open house. You and your child will see part of a typical day in action with our current students and staff. Just sign in at the office when you arrive.


No Pizza Day in May

There is no pizza lunch in May; the last one for the year will be Friday, 21 June.


Head lice

We have had numerous cases in several classrooms recently.  Our public health nurse is monitoring this situation but, in the meantime, please keep checking your children’s hair frequently for any evidence of lice.


Entry routines

Please remember when arriving at school in the morning, students walk around the outside of the school to get to the appropriate entry door. They should not be coming through the school to get to their door. Also when parents are picking up at the end of the day, please go around the outside of the building to get to the appropriate door to meet your child.


Cantonese –Spanish – Portuguese (JK-Gr. 8)

We all know the benefits of learning a second or third language, especially in children.  It helps them to develop and enhance their cognitive skills and gives them the opportunity to develop new language competencies and cultural understandings that will allow them to better participate in local and global society.


Parents can still register students in our International languages Program at Regal Road. There are still spaces available.  Please register with our Instructors in Room 21, 22 or 23 every Monday from 3:30 – 6:00 p.m.  Please call 416-527-2770 for more information.


Cooperation – Room 28

The students of Room 28 have been involved in cooperative work and learning activities since the beginning of the school year.  Rooms 28 & 30 have both had the exciting opportunity to work with the "Learning Through the Arts" program affiliated with Toronto's Royal Conservatory of Music.  Students have collaborated to create a Dance/Medieval Times/Cooperation presentation.  These presentations conceptualize and demonstrate cooperation in action.  The students of Room 28 are pleased to host this month's success assembly on April 26th and share their work with the school community.


A Youth Group in our Neighbourhood!

Would your grade 5-8’er like to have a place to gather with their peers outside of school? We meet every other Friday evening, from 6:30-8:30 for youth to play indoor sports, bake cookies, play board games and more. The group is a safe place for kids aged between 10- 14 to hang out and learn new skills, and interactive abilities. We recognize that it is a win-win for all, when community gets involved in the way we raise our children.

This is a free, non-faith based youth group, open to all regardless of faith background. It is founded by parents from our school and is generously hosted by St Chad’s Anglican Church, Dufferin just north of St Clair.

Student Placement - 2013

As the end of the school year approaches, we are planning for the 2013 – 2014 school year. The teaching staff and I will be holding meetings for placement and promotion of students in the coming weeks.  The principles that govern and structure the process of building our classes include a consideration of the following:

  • Gender,
  • Students’ abilities, strengths and achievement levels,
  • Students’ needs and learning behaviours and
  • Students’ interaction patterns that enable them to work and learn together productively.

We consider all factors that will help us to have balanced classes that will work to the benefit of all students, and the school as a whole.  As with past practice and policy, we also welcome input from parents as to the unique needs of your child.  If you wish to provide input regarding your child, please do so on the form below and return it to the office by May 3, 2013. 

We will notify you of your child’s placement for next year on his/her June report card.  Any adjustments to placements will be made in September 2013.  It is important to note that we are not asking for, nor can we accept, requests for placement with a specific teacher.

In addition, the ultimate responsibility for placement and promotion lies with the principal.

We also would like to ask that if you know your child will not be attending Regal Road next year, please send us a note, as this also is very helpful in our planning.
